The West Series is inspired by multiple driving tours and hikes that we took with our twin boys as they grew into adults. Throughout the beautiful canyons and mountain ranges we would visit, I would find a moment to paint watercolor studies, visual records I would use as inspiration for large oils in my studio.

Time Spent out West
This collection is a visual recording of driving tours I have taken out west. Inspired by the expansive, sculptural rock formations, and raking light on colorful geography, I painted each watercolor from observation.

Bringing the West to my New York east coast studio
Creating this collection of watercolors from the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Yellowstone, Lake Powell, Arches, and Glacier National Park is how I capture my sensory experience within my studies. These works are springboards for large scale oils on canvas that I create in my studio on the east coast.
